Atrebates

Tribe in the region of Artois, which was later named for the tribe. Their name is thought to derive from *Ad-trebates "settlers". They were conquered by Caesar in 57 BCE. Their name also survives in the city Arras, formerly Nemetacum (whose previous name may derive from "nemeton"--sacred grove).
